At Oloroso you can experience some of the best views of Edinburgh, blessed as it is with a stunning roof terrace with views of the castle and city beyond - if you can find the place in the first place that is. The restaurant entrance is nothing if not discreet but once you ascend to the top floor of this anonymous office building it’s a whole different story.
Inside you’ll find a very comfortable lounge bar with exceptional cocktails and passionate, knowledgeable staff. As well as the main restaurant, while the aforementioned terrace is the place to be seen when weather permits, this being Scotland it pays to be dressed appropriately if you want to sup al fresco.
Of course, there’s more to Oloroso than its bar - an intriguing mix of Indian, modern British and European cooking is on offer with a choice from a large bar menu, grill or a la carte. If you’re looking for informal eats check out the gourmet Nanza’s – large flat breads cooked in a charcoal fired clay oven and dressed with a selection of toppings, piri piri prawns for example.
With a name like this you would expect their to be a decent selection of Sherries on offer and indeed, Oloroso delivers, with usually around 15 or so on the list covering the range of styles – ask staff to make their recommendations with the food.
